Female Sexual Disorders
The inability of reaching an orgasm (anorgasmia)
The inability to have sexual intercourse with vaginal penetration (vaginismus) and painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
I.Orgasmic disorders – delay of orgasm or inability to achieve orgasm/b>
This condition causes significant distress to the patient. Like all sexual dysfunction, orgasmic disorders may have different causes, such as surgery, medical illness emotional trauma, relationship problems.
- Organic Causes
Some of these causes are common to both sexes like diabetes, neurological conditions, surgical interventions, medication prescribed for hypertension, abusive consuming of alcohol combined with smoking. Other causes are specific to women: insufficient activity of glands producing sexual hormones (pituitary gland - hypophysis, thyroid, suprarenal glands, ovaries); injuries or disorders of genitals organs which lead to uncomfortable even painful sexual intercourse (e.g. episiotomy caused injuries, sectioning of vaginal mucous and superficial perineal muscles for birth facilitation or vulva swelling); trauma caused by the birth process, especially when prolonged labor is involved because the pelvis nerves are compressed by the newborn’s head.
- Psychological Causes
Anxious or depressive women deal with such problems. Psychotropic medications (like sleeping pills, antianxiety drugs etc) recommended occasionally can aggravate sexual dysfunctions, one of the effects being a decrease of sexual desire.
- Functional Causes
Vary form person to person. Usually these are related to: fear of pregnancy, oppressive professional or household duties, lack of intimacy, having a partner who is unattractive, has premature ejaculation or insufficient erections
II. Penetration disturbances
- Vaginismus
Vaginismus refers to the unconscious contractions of the perinea muscles and the thighs leading to the impossibility of a vaginal penetration. There can be differentiate the primal vaginismus, caused by the first sexual intercourse, and the secondary vaginismus, installed after a series of satisfactory sexual intercourses.
Vaginismus is a disorder caused by an organic factor such as inflammation, infection, misplacement of genital organs, resistant hymen or by a psychological one like difficult giving birth, lack of foreplay, violence or clumsiness of the sexual partner, rape, lack of desire. Vaginismus and frigidity are not associated, as the woman can reach orgasm by means of masturbation.
- Dyspareunia
The disorder refers to a certain pain that occurs during sexual intercourse different intensity, localization and duration depending on the determining factor. However, some women have come to feel pleasure during sexual intercourse despite pain. Dyspareunia may be the result of many genital diseases.
a) pain in the vagina anthem - this pain is induced by scars produced by episiotomy, hymena disorders or vulva inflammation.
b) pain inside the vagina - this type of pain may indicate a microscopic fungus infection (mycosis), an atrophy and inflammation of the vagina walls (usually caused by menopause or cobalt therapy) or the prolepsis of the genital organs towards the perineum area.
c) pain in the bottom of the vagina - may be connected to an abnormal position of the utter (retroversion), by a big sized fibroma, by ovarian cystic formations or consequences of internal genital surgery, by thigh or spinal arthritis.
d) pain in little perineum - may be caused by varicosity and torn utter ligaments or by a difficult ovulation.
